about

This 16th century text is from 'Medieval English Lyrics' edited by R.T. Davies - the 'falcon' could be a reference to Anne Boleyn (her family's crest) and her displacement of Catherine of Aragon in Henry VIII's affections, but the feast of Corpus Christi which celebrated the body of Christ before the reformation, was held 60 days after Easter usually in May or early June. Other sources claim the song is linked to Arthurian legend or even a fairytale.
